Owner of Dancing Moon Press, CARLA PERRY received a BA
in Creative Writing/Poetry from the University of Iowa Writers
Workshop, with a minor in Mandarin Chinese and printmaking. She
spent the last twenty years as a freelance technical writer, ghostwriter,
grantwriter and photographer. Former clients include Intel Corporation,
Sequent Computers, Bonneville Power Administration, hospitals,
banks, political candidates and the City of Portland. She was
the co-writer and publisher of Wild Dog Magazine, and
editor and publisher of Talus & Scree International Literary
Journal.
Perry was the founder and director of both the monthly Nye Beach
Writers' Series and Writers On The Edge, Inc., a nonprofit organization
dedicated to the literary arts. Over 250 literary performances
and workshops were held between June 1997 and November 2004, which
is when Perry stepped down as director. Writers On The Edge is
still holding readings, workshops and special events in Newport,

Carla Perry was the winner of the Stewart Holbrook Special Award
at the 2002 Oregon Book Awards for her "outstanding contribution
to Oregon's literary life" Oregon
Book Award. She received the Governor's Art Award in 2003
for her efforts promoting literary arts on the coast. She has
been awarded three writing residencies (Caldera and Soapstone
in Oregon, and The Morris Graves Artists residency in California).
Her poetry, short stories, and photographs of writers appear frequently
in regional and national publications. She is the author of two
collections of poetry and is working on a novel set in New York
City in the 1960s, for which she was awarded an Oregon Literary
Arts Fellowship.

KAREN DOWNS graduated from
Mt. Angel College in Oregon with a BA in Creative Art and a minor
in Psychology.
She has been a graphic designer
since 1981, successfully designing and executing a range of commercial
graphics projects including book covers, logos, collateral materials,
letterhead and signage for a variety of businesses and corporations
including motels, restaurants, therapists, chiropractors, physicians
and hospitals.
Current and former clients include
Coffee People, Java Jacket, Providence Milwaukie Hospital, Portland
Gas & Electric, PPM Energy. and C. Norman Winningstad.
